Leongatha BMX

Leogantha BMX/South Gippsland BMX is based at 88 Horn Street, Leongatha, Victoria, providing a dedicated BMX race track for riders across the South Gippsland region. The track features classic BMX terrain with large bermed corners, rollers and jump sections, offering plenty of opportunity to practise pumping, cornering, jumping and race skills. The track was brought back to life by local volunteers after having been unused for many years. The club was established in 2019, with volunteers working alongside South Gippsland Shire Council and local businesses to rebuild the facility and develop BMX participation in the region. The track caters to a broad range of riders, from young children getting started on balance bikes through to adult BMX riders. Historically, the club has offered training and coaching sessions, with loan BMX bikes, helmets and gloves available for riders trying the sport. The club’s ABN remains active, although its former TidyHQ page is currently marked “EXPIRED”, so riders should confirm current organised club activities before relying on older training or racing schedules. Importantly, the Leongatha BMX track itself is a public facility. Club information states that it can be ridden when organised club activities aren't taking place. The track should not be ridden when wet, and motorbikes, RC cars and other motorised vehicles aren't permitted. RTS Tip: the track at 88 Horn Street can be used by the public outside organised activities. The jumps are relatively substantial, so newer riders should roll the track first and build up gradually rather than assuming it’s a small beginner BMX loop. Most importantly, stay off the track when it’s wet to protect the surface.
