Maryborough Velodrome
About this ride
Maryborough Velodrome is an outdoor cycling track on Elgin Road in Maryborough, on the edge of the Bristol Hill Historic Area in Victoria’s Central Goldfields. The fully fenced facility features a 333-metre concrete track with steeply banked ends and is open for public cycling, making it an accessible option for riders wanting to experience outdoor velodrome riding. The velodrome provides a safe, traffic-free environment for training, fitness, track-style riding or simply turning a few laps, and its longer layout offers a different experience from the 250m tracks commonly found at modern competition velodromes. Its location also makes it easy to incorporate into a wider Maryborough cycling adventure. The surrounding Central Goldfields region has a mix of road routes, shared trails and bush tracks, while trails from the velodrome connect towards Bristol Hill and its historic attractions. RTS Tip: At approximately 333m per lap, three laps will give you roughly one kilometre. The track is open to the public and is a great option for riders wanting to try a velodrome without the controlled access of an indoor competition facility. Remember that it is a cycling facility first, even though the surrounding area is also used by walkers and dog owners.
