Mengler Hill Climb
About this ride
Mengler Hill is the Barossa's signature climb and a Tour Down Under KOM. The Adelaide Bike Atlas measures it at 2.8 km at about 6.8%, from Light Pass Road to the crest. That average hides how relentless it is: you'll spend most of the climb at or above it, and the only real breather is a brief plateau after the sculpture park near the top. The reward is a view back over the vineyards of the Barossa Valley. Traffic is low but there's no bike lane. Angaston, about 7 km past the crest, is the coffee stop.
