Rockingham BMX Track. Rockingham BMX Club is a dedicated BMX racing facility at 1521 Ennis Avenue, East Rockingham, Western Australia. Established in 1979, the club has been part of Rockingham’s cycling community for decades and caters for riders from young Mini Wheelers and Sprockets through to Challenge, Cruiser and Pro Open racers. The track is purpose-built for BMX racing, with a starting ramp, bermed corners, rollers, jumps and technical features designed to develop speed, bike handling and race skills. The facility is the City of Rockingham’s only purpose-built BMX race track and serves riders from across the wider region. Unlike the City’s public pump and jump tracks, the Ennis Avenue BMX facility is not open for unrestricted general public riding; access is controlled through the club because of the technical nature of the track. Riders interested in trying it should attend an organised club session or enquire about membership and introductory riding opportunities. The club offers a pathway from balance bikes right through to competitive BMX racing. Regular activities include gate practice, training and club racing, with riders also able to progress into WA Super Series events, Open Days and State, National and potentially international competition. Current session and race times can vary between summer and winter, so the club recommends checking its latest schedule before visiting. The current Ennis Avenue facility is ageing, and the City of Rockingham has identified a future relocation to the Lark Hill sporting precinct as the preferred long-term solution. Planning documents envisage a modern regional-level BMX facility capable of supporting both local participation and higher-level competition, although the existing Ennis Avenue track remains the club’s current home. RTS Tip: Rockingham BMX is a club-operated race track rather than a public BMX park, so check with the club before heading down to ride. If you're completely new to BMX, this is a great place to learn proper gate starts, jumping and race-track skills in a supervised environment. For casual riding without joining a club session, the City of Rockingham also has public BMX facilities including the Safety Bay Pump and Jump Track, which has a beginner-friendly pump line alongside a separate jump line with jumps up to 1.4 m high.
