Shepparton Velodrome
About this ride
Shepparton Velodrome is an outdoor concrete cycling track within the Shepparton Cycling Precinct on Packham Street, and has been home to Shepparton Cycling Club since the facility was constructed in 1983. The precinct brings track cycling and BMX together in one of regional Victoria’s key cycling hubs. The velodrome is a large outdoor concrete track with floodlighting, supporting track training, racing and cycling development. Council documentation has historically listed the track at 333m, while a newer precinct master plan describes it as approximately 380m, so I’d avoid putting an exact lap length on the RTS card unless you have a verified current measurement. The venue has a strong racing history and is particularly well known for the Shepparton Cycling Club Christmas Track Carnival, which has been held at the velodrome since it opened. Shepparton has also produced riders who have progressed to Australian representation and Olympic success. The cycling precinct has recently received further investment, with new velodrome lighting completed in 2025 to meet AusCycling’s 300-lux LED standard, improving conditions for night training, competition and major events. RTS Tip: Shepparton has a serious cycling pedigree, and this is an active track cycling facility rather than simply a recreational loop. Check current club training and racing before visiting. If you're interested in trying track cycling, Shepparton Cycling Club is based right at the velodrome and supports both competitive and recreational riders.
