Wangaratta Velodrome

Wangaratta Velodrome is an outdoor cycling track located around Norm Minns Oval at the Wangaratta Showgrounds. The lightly banked concrete track has a long connection with the Wangaratta Cycling Club and was historically used for track training, racing and cycling carnivals. Wangaratta has a proud cycling history, producing riders who have competed at Commonwealth and Olympic level. The velodrome is currently in poor condition, with significant surface cracking and shared-use conflicts around the oval meaning it is no longer considered suitable for regular training or competition. Council planning documents identify the existing track for eventual removal while alternative cycling facilities for Wangaratta are investigated. RTS Tip: This is one to visit for its place in Wangaratta’s cycling history rather than as a current track-riding destination. The surface is in poor condition and the velodrome is not considered suitable for regular training or racing, so check current access and conditions before planning to ride.
