Bushrangers MTB Club

Bushrangers Mountain Bike Club Sunshine Coast Inc. is one of Queensland’s long-established mountain bike clubs, formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995. Based on the Sunshine Coast, the volunteer-run club promotes and supports mountain biking throughout the region, with regular rides extending from Cooloola through the Sunshine Coast and south towards Brisbane. The club is strongly focused on the social side of mountain biking, organising regular Sunday rides alongside rookie, community, night and member-led rides. Groups often split to accommodate different speeds and abilities, making Bushrangers a welcoming option for riders who want to discover local trails without necessarily being focused on racing. New riders are particularly well catered for. Rookie Rides provide a relaxed introduction to MTB with regular stops and easier terrain, while the club's Community Rides are designed to introduce riders to both the club and the Sunshine Coast trail scene. Community rides rotate through locations including Ewen Maddock Dam, Ferny Forest, Mapleton Forest and Sugar Bag, with easier group options and opportunities for more experienced riders to add technical sections. Bushrangers also has a strong involvement in trail advocacy, development and maintenance. The club works with land managers and the wider riding community to support sustainable local trails and regularly organises volunteer trail-care activities, including maintenance at Parklands. Its stated vision is for the Sunshine Coast to become a world-class mountain biking destination, with the club actively involved alongside riders, government, landowners and the community. Membership options include Bushrangers club membership as well as membership through AusCycling, with benefits including organised rides, coaching and training opportunities, social events and involvement in local MTB advocacy. Riders visiting from another cycling club are also encouraged to get in touch and join a ride where appropriate.
