Canberra BMX Club

Canberra BMX Club (CBMX) is a volunteer-run BMX racing club based in Melba in Canberra's north, bringing together riders of all ages and abilities through racing, gate practice, coaching and a friendly, family-focused BMX community. The club has a long history within the ACT BMX scene and provides a pathway into the sport for everyone from young riders discovering BMX through to experienced racers competing at higher levels. BMX racing is at the heart of the club. Regular club racing gives riders the opportunity to develop their race craft in a supportive environment, with categories catering for different ages, bike types and levels of experience. For riders wanting to improve their skills, coaching and gate practice are an important part of club life. Coaching helps riders progressively develop their confidence, starts, cornering, bike handling and track skills, with different levels allowing newer riders to learn the fundamentals while more experienced racers continue refining their technique. Young riders are a major part of the Canberra BMX community. Mini Wheelers and Sprockets provide pathways for children to become involved from an early age, before progressing into age-group racing as their skills and confidence develop. BMX is far from being only a junior sport, however, with opportunities continuing through adult, Cruiser and Masters categories. For people curious about BMX, the club provides an approachable environment in which to discover the sport and learn how racing works. Riders can begin by building their confidence around the track before progressing towards gates and organised competition when they're ready. The club's home at Canberra BMX Track in Melba provides a dedicated BMX racing facility featuring a start hill, four straights and three sealed berms. The venue supports club training and racing while also having the capability to host significant BMX competition. Canberra BMX has a strong connection with the wider ACT, NSW and Australian BMX racing community, providing opportunities for riders who want to progress from grassroots club racing into Territory, State and National-level competition. Behind the riding is a substantial community of families, coaches, officials and volunteers. Volunteers help with everything from gate operation and scoring to track preparation, first aid and event delivery, making them an essential part of the club and its welcoming community.
