About this club

Canberra Off-Road Cyclists (CORC) is one of Australia's largest and longest-established mountain bike clubs, bringing together riders across Canberra, the ACT and surrounding regions for racing, junior development, social riding and trail advocacy. Established in 1988, CORC has played a major role in the growth of mountain biking in the nation's capital and in establishing Canberra as one of Australia's leading MTB destinations. Rather than being based at a single riding area, CORC's activities stretch across Canberra's extensive network of mountain bike trails. Club racing regularly visits locations including Stromlo Forest Park, Majura Pines, Sparrow Hill, East Kowen and Cotter Pines, giving riders the opportunity to experience very different terrain and trail styles throughout the year. Cross-country racing is at the heart of the club. CORC runs an XC series alongside longer three-hour endurance events, with categories designed to cater for different ages and abilities. Racing is deliberately grassroots-friendly, giving newcomers somewhere to experience their first MTB event while still providing genuinely competitive racing for experienced and elite riders. The club's popular Dirt Crits provide an especially accessible introduction to racing. Held during the warmer months, these short-format events cater from young juniors and novices through to experienced racers, using multiple grades and handicapping to keep the racing competitive and fun. The easiest category uses a shorter, technically simpler course specifically suited to younger riders. Junior development is one of CORC's standout strengths. Its XC Junior Development Program supports experienced riders aged approximately 12–18 who want to improve their cross-country and enduro skills, fitness and confidence, whether their goal is simply to become a stronger rider or progress into school, club, state and national competition. The program combines regular skills and fitness sessions, winter gym work and a multi-day development camp, and has helped hundreds of young riders develop their mountain biking. CORC is also behind the ACT Schools Mountain Bike Championships, one of Australia's largest school MTB events. The 2026 edition at Stromlo Forest Park marked the 25th running of the event and was expected to attract around 550 students from Years 6–12, with more than half travelling from outside the ACT. The four-hour teams format is deliberately designed so riders of different abilities can participate and enjoy racing together. The club has an impressive history of delivering major mountain bike competition too. Over the years CORC has been involved in events including the Scott 24 Hour, World 24 Hour Championships, Australian 24 Hour Championships, MTBA National Series and Australian rounds of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, alongside countless grassroots events. Just as important as racing is trail advocacy and stewardship. CORC represents mountain bikers in discussions around trail access and development and has advocated for riding opportunities at areas including Stromlo, Majura, Tuggeranong Pines, Sparrow Hill and East Kowen. Supporting CORC therefore helps support not only events, but the wider mountain bike infrastructure and trail access enjoyed by Canberra riders. Behind everything is a volunteer community helping with race organisation, course setting, timing, marshalling, junior development, trail advocacy and club administration. CORC actively encourages riders and families to contribute, making volunteering an important part of the club's grassroots culture. Whether you're looking to get the kids into mountain biking, try your first XC race, join the Dirt Crits, tackle an endurance event, develop towards higher-level competition or help advocate for Canberra's trails, Canberra Off-Road Cyclists provides one of the strongest connections to the MTB community of the ACT.
