Kalamunda Mountain Bike Collective

Kalamunda Mountain Bike Collective (KMBC) is a not-for-profit, volunteer-powered mountain bike organisation based in the Perth Hills, Western Australia. The Collective is dedicated to developing, maintaining and protecting the Kalamunda trail network while building an inclusive riding community where all bikes, ages and experience levels are welcome. At the heart of KMBC is the Kalamunda Mountain Bike Trails, one of WA’s best-known riding destinations. Located around Paulls Valley and Kalamunda, roughly 40 minutes from Perth, the network features more than 50 kilometres of signed singletrack, with green, blue and black trails providing everything from approachable beginner riding to fast, technical and challenging terrain. Trail stewardship is a huge part of what the Collective does. Volunteers regularly get their hands dirty with trail maintenance, repairs, drainage, vegetation management and feature building, while KMBC works with land managers, WestCycle and other MTB organisations to advocate for sustainable future development. The group is also working towards establishing the Kalamunda network as an internationally recognised mountain bike destination, while protecting the unique flora and wildlife of the Perth Hills. There’s plenty happening beyond trail building too. KMBC runs regular weekend and night social rides, junior rides and beginner-friendly opportunities, making it easy for newer riders to meet the community and learn the network. Membership fees are directed back into maintaining and expanding the trails, and there are plenty of opportunities to contribute through trail days, events, ride leading and behind-the-scenes volunteering. RTS TIP: If you're visiting Perth with the bike, Kalamunda deserves a spot on the list. With 50+ kilometres of singletrack only around 40 minutes from the city, there's enough here for much more than a quick lap.
