About this club
Lysterfield District Trail Riders (LDTR) is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit mountain bike club at the heart of the riding community at Lysterfield Park, around 40 km from Melbourne’s CBD. Formed around 2009, the club is dedicated to building and maintaining trails, growing the MTB community and advocating for the future of mountain biking at Lysterfield. LDTR offers plenty of ways to get involved, with social rides, MTB skills sessions, cross-country and enduro racing, women’s programs and junior riding opportunities. Programs include Lysty Chicks, supportive women’s riding through Girls of Gravity, and Trail Blazers, which helps younger riders develop their skills, confidence and friendships on the bike. A huge part of LDTR’s work happens off the bike too. Club volunteers work alongside Parks Victoria to maintain and improve the Lysterfield trail network, organise trail-building days and advocate for continued investment and access. The club recorded more than 3,500 volunteer hours in its last reported season and has invested over $60,000 into trail improvements since 2019. Lysterfield has a special place in Australian mountain biking history, having hosted the MTB events at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, and LDTR continues to help ensure this popular urban trail network has a strong future. Whether you want to find people to ride with, race, improve your skills, get the kids involved or give something back to the trails, LDTR is a great way to become part of the Lysterfield MTB community.
