About this club

Manly Warringah Cycling Club (MWCC) is a large and diverse cycling club based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, bringing together social riders, juniors, recreational cyclists and competitive racers across road, criterium, time trial, cyclocross and mountain biking. With activities catering for a wide range of ages and abilities, the club offers plenty of ways to become part of the local cycling community without needing to be a serious racer. The modern club was established in 1957 as the Manly-Warringah Amateur Cyclists Club, although organised cycling on the Northern Beaches stretches much further back, with a Manly Bicycle Club documented as early as 1885. Over the decades MWCC has developed into one of Sydney’s largest cycling communities while maintaining a strong connection with riding and racing throughout Manly, Warringah and the wider Northern Beaches. Road cycling remains at the heart of the club. MWCC runs regular training and social bunch rides alongside competitive road racing, giving riders opportunities ranging from relaxed kilometres and coffee stops through to structured training and graded competition. The club’s well-known West Head road races take riders through the spectacular surrounds of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, with multiple grades making the racing accessible to both experienced competitors and riders trying road racing for the first time. The club also offers individual time trials and criterium racing, providing riders with several different ways to experience competitive road cycling. Criteriums are held on the closed circuit at the HART Driver Training Centre in St Ives, creating a traffic-free environment particularly well suited to fast racing and rider development. MWCC also has a genuine off-road side. The club has a thriving cyclocross community and hosts CX racing alongside short-track cross-country mountain bike racing (XCC) at JJ Melbourne Hills Memorial Reserve in Terrey Hills. The courses combine sections of tarmac, grass and technical features, with separate categories catering for cyclocross bikes, mountain bikes and junior riders. Junior development is another major part of the club. MWCC runs programs for young riders across both road and mountain biking, incorporating bike-handling and skills development, introductory racing, group riding and opportunities for older juniors to progress into more structured training. Accredited coaches support the program, creating a pathway from learning fundamental riding skills through to competitive cycling for those who want to take things further. The club also actively supports women’s participation in cycling, with women represented throughout its social riding and racing programs and dedicated support within the club structure. MWCC has a long history of encouraging female participation and providing opportunities for women to become involved in both recreational and competitive cycling. Importantly, you don't need to race to belong. Social and training rides are a significant part of MWCC, with riders able to join the club specifically for non-racing participation. Regular bunch rides provide opportunities to improve fitness, meet other cyclists, discover Northern Beaches routes and enjoy the social side of cycling — including the essential coffee stop. MWCC is heavily supported by its volunteer community, with members contributing to racing, group rides, junior development, officiating and the many behind-the-scenes jobs required to keep such a large cycling club operating. The club encourages members to become involved and contribute to the wider cycling community as well as simply turning up to ride. Whether you're looking to find a social bunch, introduce a child to cycling, try your first road race, tackle a time trial, race criteriums, discover cyclocross, get involved in short-track MTB or develop towards higher levels of competition, Manly Warringah Cycling Club provides one of the broadest cycling communities on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
