North Brisbane Mountain Bike Club

North Brisbane Mountain Bike Club (NBMBC), also known to many local riders as the Dirt Dogs, has been part of South East Queensland’s mountain biking community since 1995. Based around Bunya on Brisbane’s northside, the club is focused on getting people out riding, building skills and creating a friendly social community for mountain bikers of all experience levels. The club’s backyard includes the popular trails of Bunyaville and Samford Conservation Parks, but club rides venture much further afield. NBMBC runs Sunday social rides every week, alternating between local favourites and destinations across Greater Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and inland South East Queensland. Rides cater for different fitness and skill levels, with a social-paced option and a strong no-rider-left-behind approach. Helping riders progress is another big part of the club. Members have access to subsidised professional MTB coaching, with sessions tailored from beginner through to advanced and race-focused riders. The club also supports members competing in events, while its Dirt Girls group provides regular women’s social rides, including introductory sessions designed to help newer riders build confidence and meet other women on the trails. Behind the riding sits a significant trail stewardship effort through the club’s Northside Trail Care Alliance (NTCA). This volunteer group works alongside land managers to develop and maintain sustainable trails throughout Bunyaville and Samford, contributing to major upgrades on trails including Kombi, Lorikeet, Wallaby and Jurassic. Volunteers also step in following major weather events to repair damaged trails and get the networks open and riding again. Whether you're completely new to mountain biking, looking for people to ride with or keen to contribute to the trails, NBMBC offers plenty of ways to get involved. New riders can even use AusCycling’s four-week trial membership to join the club for a few rides before committing to membership. RTS TIP: New to Brisbane's northside trails? Bunyaville and Samford have plenty to explore, and jumping onto one of NBMBC’s Sunday rides is an easy way to learn the network without worrying about where you're going.
