About this club
Randwick Cycling Club is one of Sydney's longest-established cycling clubs, bringing together competitive racers, social riders, juniors and Masters cyclists from across the city's eastern suburbs. Founded in 1903, the club combines more than a century of cycling history with a strong contemporary focus on participation, development and creating a welcoming environment for riders of different abilities. Road cycling and criterium racing are at the heart of Randwick's identity. The club has a long association with Heffron Park in Maroubra, one of Sydney's best-known criterium circuits, where generations of riders have developed their racing skills. Graded racing provides opportunities for developing cyclists through to experienced competitors, with the club also playing an important role in delivering major championship-level criterium events. Randwick isn't only about racing. The club has a substantial social and training ride community, with regular bunch rides exploring Sydney's eastern suburbs and destinations further afield. Different ride levels cater for varying fitness and experience, while more relaxed rides provide an approachable starting point for riders new to organised club cycling. Junior development is one of the club's major strengths. The Heffron Park Junior Cycling Academy introduces younger riders to cycling through skills, fitness, confidence building and an introduction to racing. As riders develop, there is a pathway into more structured coaching, mentoring, training and competition, helping promising young cyclists continue progressing through the sport. The club also has a genuine cyclocross presence. Randwick hosts CX racing at Heffron Park, transforming the surrounding parkland into courses incorporating grass, slopes, paths and other terrain. This gives riders another way to experience competitive cycling beyond traditional road racing and has helped establish Heffron Park as an important cyclocross venue within NSW. Women are an important part of the Randwick cycling community, with the club supporting dedicated women's riding opportunities alongside its wider mixed bunch rides and racing environment. Safety and rider development are central to the club's approach. Group rides are led by experienced riders, while coaching and development initiatives help members improve their bunch skills, fitness, confidence and race craft. Riders can become involved whether their goal is competition, improving their cycling or simply enjoying regular rides with a supportive group. Randwick's long history has seen generations of riders progress through club racing into State, National and international competition, but its philosophy remains firmly grounded in grassroots cycling — encouraging people to participate, improve and, most importantly, enjoy riding their bike. Like most community cycling organisations, the club is supported by a dedicated network of members, coaches, officials and volunteers who help deliver racing, junior development, group rides and club activities. Whether you're looking to join a social bunch, introduce a junior to cycling, try criterium or cyclocross racing, improve your skills or progress towards higher levels of competition, Randwick Cycling Club provides a welcoming connection to one of Sydney's most established cycling communities.
