Hunt 1000 - 2026

Organised by Hunt Bikepacking

The Hunt 1000 is a self-supported, self-guided bikepacking journey of about 1,000 km and 23,000+ m of climbing, from Canberra to Melbourne through the heart of the Australian Alps. It isn't a race. You pick your own departure date from 21 November and ride at your own pace, with no support vehicle or marshals, towards a grand finish and celebration in Melbourne on Saturday 5 December 2026. Expect backcountry trails, high plains, snow gum woodland, historic alpine huts, river crossings, hike-a-bikes, rough fire road and fast gravel. The route is refreshed every year. Entry includes GPS files with campsite and resupply notes (released in early November), Ride with GPS Pro access, a virtual rider briefing, a rider group chat, live MAProgress tracking (device rental extra) and a sew-on patch.
