Bellthorpe Circuit
About this ride
Bellthorpe Circuit is a challenging 78.4km road cycling loop through the Sunshine Coast hinterland, starting and finishing at Landsborough. The route rolls through Beerwah before the climbing begins towards Peachester and Bellthorpe National Park, eventually gaining around 1,200m of elevation on the way to Maleny. The reward is some spectacular hinterland scenery, including views across the Glass House Mountains and as far south as Brisbane, before a fast and winding descent through Bald Knob returns riders to Landsborough. With sustained climbing, narrow rural roads and limited shoulders, this one is best suited to experienced road riders with strong fitness and confidence riding in traffic. RTS Tip: Maleny makes the perfect mid-ride coffee and refuel stop before tackling the descent back towards Landsborough. Take extra care on the downhill sections — speeds can be high and the roads are narrow and winding with little or no shoulder. Landsborough railway station also makes this a handy adventure to access by train from Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.
