About this ride

The Tenterfield – Bolivia – Torrington Overnighter is a big two-day gravel and bikepacking adventure through the remote granite country surrounding Tenterfield in the New England High Country. Covering around 172km, this is a proper gravel escape, with approximately 73% of the route off-road. Expect quiet gravel roads, forest tracks, rugged backcountry and plenty of climbing as you travel through the small locality of Bolivia and towards Torrington before looping back to Tenterfield. Day one is the bigger challenge, taking riders deep into remote country before reaching a beautiful bush campsite near Torrington. There are no amenities at the campsite, so riders need to be prepared for a genuinely self-supported overnight adventure — but the trade-off is a night under the stars well away from towns and traffic. The landscape is a huge part of this ride. The Tenterfield region is known for its granite peaks, wild rivers, forests and incredibly quiet country roads, and this route provides a brilliant way to experience the more remote side of the New England High Country by bike. With significant distance, climbing and long stretches away from services, this ride is best suited to experienced gravel and bikepacking riders who are comfortable carrying their own gear and being self-sufficient. RTS Tip: This is remote country, so plan your water, food, camping equipment and navigation carefully and don't rely on mobile reception. Check current weather, road conditions, fire conditions and park or forest alerts before setting off. Use the mapping link for the detailed route and navigation.
