About this ride
The Chapman River Regional Park in Geraldton offers a fun slice of cross-country mountain biking right on the edge of town. The main Chapman River Loop Trail is around 10–11km and follows both sides of the river, mixing flowing sections with limestone, rocky outcrops, short steep pinches and natural technical features. Rated moderate/blue, it’s a great option for intermediate riders while still being approachable for less experienced riders wanting to step up their skills. Back at Spalding Park, riders can also session the dedicated pump and jump track and skills area, making Chapman River equally good for a quick lap, some skills practice or a longer session linking a few loops together. RTS Tip: The loop is dual direction and shared with walkers and runners, so keep an eye out around blind corners and pass courteously. The northern side sits higher above the river and has some rockier terrain, while the lower southern side tends to be faster and more flowing. There are several crossings that let you shorten the ride if needed, and starting from Spalding Park puts you right beside the pump, jump and skills facilities for a warm-up before hitting the loop.
