The climb from Mount Beauty to Falls Creek is one of the longest in the Victorian Alps: 29.8 km at about 3.9% average (maxing near 10%) for 1,164 m of gain up the Bogong High Plains Road. It is one of the 7 Peaks Alpine Ascent climbs, with a steep start, a rolling middle section past Bogong village and Lake Guy, and a final push to the cycle-friendly village at 1,650 m+. Watch for traffic and changeable alpine weather, and carry a jacket for the descent.
