Fat Tyre Farm MTB Trails – Armidale, is a mountain bike trail network north of Armidale in the New England High Country of NSW, offering a brilliant mix of flowing singletrack, technical features and gravity-focused riding in beautiful eucalypt forest. Built and maintained with involvement from New England Mountain Bikers (NEMTB), the network caters for a broad range of riders and abilities. Expect fast singletrack, technical challenges, berms, ramps, jumps and steep descents, with A and B lines providing options to either take on the features or build confidence on easier alternatives. There’s plenty here for riders who like gravity as well as cross-country riding. Trails including Off The Hook, Over the Top, Full Bottle, Wind U Up and Eastern Rail feature in local gravity riding, while easier options allow newer riders to progressively explore the network. Fat Tyre Farm can also be connected with the nearby Robbers Run riding area. NEMTB advises riders can use the old highway and Thunderbolts Cave Road connection, with an under-highway tunnel providing an alternative to crossing the New England Highway. Sitting around 18km north of Armidale, Fat Tyre Farm is one of several MTB destinations that have helped establish the region as a mountain biking destination, alongside Armidale State Forest, UNE and other local trails.
