Finch Hatton MTB Trails
About this ride
Finch Hatton MTB Trails, in Queensland’s lush Pioneer Valley west of Mackay, is a purpose-built mountain bike destination set against spectacular tropical rainforest and mountain scenery. The current network features 17 trails ranging from easy green adventures through intermediate flow and jump trails to difficult black-rated lines, with something for beginners, families and experienced gravity riders. Pedal up the 3.24km G’Day G’Day climbing trail before dropping into trails such as Green Whistle, Tasty Fig, Your Shout and Bung Eye, or step things up on difficult lines including Chuck A Sickie, Off the Rails and Big Bickies. Back at the town-centre trailhead there’s also a huge 400m+ pump track, bike wash, water, toilets, picnic facilities and shuttle pick-up, making Finch Hatton an easy place to settle in for a full day of riding. RTS Tip: Use the pump track for a warm-up, then pedal G’Day G’Day to access the network or check whether shuttle services are operating if you want to save your legs for the descents. The trails are free to ride and open year-round during daylight hours, weather permitting, but tropical weather can affect conditions quickly, so check the current trail status before heading out.
