Inverell MTB Park

Inverell MTB Park is a cross-country mountain bike network around 5km south of Inverell on Bundarra Road, in the New England region of northern NSW. The park has been developed as a community riding facility with a collection of loops and singletrack suitable for everyone from beginners through to more experienced XC riders. Inverell Shire Council’s 2026 community directory identifies 1km, 3km and 5km loops at the park. The 1km Wombat Ramble provides an easy introduction, while Wallaby Wander offers around 2.5km of green-rated riding with a little more challenge. Riders wanting a longer lap can tackle the 3km Short Boundary Loop or the main 5km Boundary Ride, an intermediate blue XC loop. Current Trailforks mapping shows a much broader collection of trail segments and combinations around the park, allowing riders to extend well beyond the basic loops. Expect traditional cross-country riding rather than gravity-focused bike-park terrain, with winding singletrack, short climbs and descents, natural features and plenty of opportunities to link different trails together. Mapped sections include Creepy Creek, Heart Rate Hill, Claret Corner, Home Run, Rockee Road and Slabba the Hutt. The compact layout makes Inverell particularly approachable for families and progression. Newer riders can start with the short green loops, while stronger riders can combine the blue trails and additional singletrack into a longer XC session. There is, however, an important current access issue. Inverell Shire Council temporarily closed the MTB track in March 2026 after the former Inverell Mountain Bike Club became dormant and there was no active organisation maintaining or managing the facility. In April, Council paused its search for another operator after around 20 community members expressed interest in re-forming the Inverell Mountain Bike Club. For riders searching for Inverell MTB, New England mountain bike trails, mountain biking in northern NSW or family-friendly MTB around Inverell, the park has plenty of potential as a handy regional XC network. Although mapping platforms currently show the trails, Council formally announced the facility’s temporary closure in March 2026, and its April update focused on efforts to reform the club rather than confirming that the park had reopened. Until Council publishes a clear reopening update, I wouldn’t list it as definitely open.
