Jacks Ridge MTB Park
About this ride
Jacks Ridge MTB Park – Nambucca Heads Jacks Ridge Mountain Bike Park is a hand-built cross-country mountain bike network in Nambucca State Forest, a short drive from Nambucca Heads and Macksville on the NSW Mid North Coast. It’s a great example of a volunteer-built riding destination, with a strong emphasis on natural singletrack, progression and some seriously memorable timber features. The official park information describes 14km+ of maintained trails, although a 2026 local update reports the broader network has grown to more than 26km of hand-built cross-country trails. The easiest way to explore is via the park’s six well-signposted loops, all beginning from the main trailhead, so riders can choose a route that matches their ability and available time. There’s riding for a broad range of abilities, from beginner-friendly loops through to more technical intermediate terrain. Teagues Loop is a good starting point for newer riders, while Western Loop, Bili Bili Loop, Northern Loop and Roller Coaster Loop progressively add more technical features and faster singletrack. A dedicated 400m kids track beside the car park makes Jacks Ridge particularly appealing for families. What really gives Jacks Ridge its character are the hand-built timber structures scattered throughout the forest. Features including Phil’s Flyover and the legendary Big Boris have become signatures of the park. Most of the larger structures and technical sections provide A and B lines, allowing riders to choose the challenge that suits them rather than being committed to the harder feature. The network is built and maintained by the Nambucca Valley Mountain Bike Club, which has a formal agreement with Forestry Corporation NSW to develop and maintain trails within Nambucca State Forest. Volunteers contribute significant time to keeping the network running, and the park is also used for social rides and XC racing. Facilities at the main trailhead include parking, accessible toilets, hand-washing facilities and a picnic shelter. Riding is free, making it an easy addition to a Nambucca Heads or Mid North Coast riding trip. For riders searching for Jacks Ridge MTB, Nambucca Heads mountain bike trails, Macksville MTB, Mid North Coast mountain biking or family-friendly MTB trails in NSW, this is a fantastic community-built network to add to the ride list. RTS Tip: Jacks Ridge is particularly good for progression. Start with Teagues or the kids loop, then work through the longer loops and choose the A-lines as your confidence grows. The park asks riders to stay off the trails during and immediately after significant rain, and Forestry Corporation can occasionally close the forest for fire danger or extreme weather, so check conditions before travelling.
