About this ride

The Lake Jindabyne Trails offer a spectacular way to explore the shores of Lake Jindabyne by bike, combining flowing lakeside trail, shared paths and natural-surface riding with huge views across the water towards the Snowy Mountains. Starting from Jindabyne, riders can follow the growing Lake Jindabyne Shared Trail network in either direction, with established connections towards Hatchery Bay to the west and Tyrolean Village to the east. The riding varies along the way, from concrete shared paths close to town through to compacted and natural-surface trail hugging the lake's edge. The Hatchery Bay section is a standout, with scenic, relatively approachable singletrack that makes it a great option for families and newer riders while still being plenty of fun for experienced riders looking for a cruisy spin. The wider network offers up to around 30 km of existing shared trail, with shorter out-and-back rides easy to create depending on how far you want to explore. There's plenty more happening here too. The long-term project is developing a roughly 50 km network around the southern half of Lake Jindabyne, including new connections through East Jindabyne and Tyrolean and eventually linking the lakeside trails with the Thredbo Valley Track via Gaden Trout Hatchery. Some sections remain under construction during 2026, so the riding options around the lake will continue to evolve. RTS Tip: This is a brilliant option if you want to ride straight from Jindabyne rather than load up the car. For an easy scenic outing, head towards Hatchery Bay and simply turn around when you've had enough. If you're looking for more dirt, combine the lakeside trail with the Tyrolean & Mill Creek MTB trails — or keep an eye on the developing connection towards the Thredbo Valley Track for a much bigger Snowies adventure. As construction is still underway around parts of East Jindabyne and Tyrolean, check current trail conditions and detours before setting off.
