About this ride

Jolly Nose MTB Park – Bonny Hills / Port Macquarie Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Park is one of the standout MTB destinations on the NSW Mid North Coast, located in Queens Lake and Burrawan State Forests near Bonny Hills, around 20 minutes south of Port Macquarie. The network combines cross-country, trail and gravity riding in a huge community-maintained forest playground. The park’s current official trail site lists 60+ individual trails and more than 40km of mapped riding, while NSW tourism information describes the broader network as approximately 70km. Either way, there’s enough here for anything from a quick lap to a full day of exploring. There’s a genuine spread of difficulty, from green beginner trails through blue, black and double-black expert terrain. Riders can start with trails such as the flowing Rollercoaster or tackle the popular 10km green XC loop, before progressing to more technical trails featuring rock gardens, berms, jumps and steeper natural terrain. For stronger riders, Jolly Nose has plenty of technical and gravity-focused options. Rock & Roll mixes berms, rock gardens and jumps, while Morning Glory steps things up into black-rated terrain. The network’s variety means XC riders, trail riders and gravity-focused riders can all find something worthwhile without needing separate destinations. The trails are managed by Hastings Valley Mountain Bike Riders, working in partnership with Forestry Corporation NSW. They’re designated MTB trails within the club’s permit area and are built and maintained largely through volunteer effort, memberships and community support. Riding is free and open to everyone from dawn to dusk, with club membership encouraged as a way to help support the network. The main access is via Spring Creek Road, with free parking at Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Parking Area. There’s no booking required for normal riding. For riders searching for Jolly Nose MTB, Port Macquarie mountain bike trails, Bonny Hills MTB, Mid North Coast mountain biking or gravity and XC trails in NSW, this is absolutely a network worth putting on the ride list. RTS Tip: With so many trails, don’t try to judge Jolly Nose by one loop. Newer riders can start with the green network and 10km loop, while experienced riders should allow enough time to explore the more technical gravity areas. Check current trail status before heading out — the club posts maintenance closures and conditions can change after weather events.
