Landsborough & Mooloolah Trails
About this ride
The Landsborough & Mooloolah area offers a great introduction to mountain biking on the Sunshine Coast, linking the trails around Ewen Maddock Dam with Dularcha National Park. Expect mostly wide, relatively flat trails through forest and alongside the dam, with optional hills and side trails for riders wanting to add a little more climbing and challenge. The area works particularly well for beginners, families and recreational riders, while the various connections make it easy to build a longer ride. One of the highlights is the old rail trail through Dularcha National Park, connecting Landsborough and Mooloolah. The roughly 3km route follows part of the former railway alignment and passes through a 100m heritage-listed railway tunnel built in 1890. From Mooloolah you can retrace your route or use the Mooloolah Connection Road bikeway to create a larger loop back towards Ewen Maddock Dam. RTS Tip: Bring a light for the Dularcha railway tunnel — it curves enough that the middle gets properly dark! For a bigger adventure, start at Maddock Park, ride the dam trails into Landsborough, continue through Dularcha to Mooloolah for a coffee, then loop back via the bikeway. There are also optional hillier trails along the way if you want to add some extra climbing.
