Don't assume it's all flat farmland though. Head towards the ranges and the terrain changes quickly, with some serious climbing available for riders chasing a bigger challenge. Routes around Helidon climb from the valley floor into the surrounding hills, combining long gravel ascents with fast descents and expansive views back across the countryside. The variety makes the Lockyer Valley a great base for everything from a shorter gravel spin to a challenging full-day adventure. It's also well positioned for riders travelling from Brisbane, Ipswich or Toowoomba, making it an easy addition to a South East Queensland gravel riding weekend or road trip.
