About this ride
The M7 Cycleway is one of Western Sydney’s major off-road cycling routes, running alongside the Westlink M7 motorway for around 40 kilometres between Prestons and Baulkham Hills. Fully sealed and separated from road traffic, it’s popular with road riders, commuters and recreational cyclists looking to clock up some uninterrupted kilometres without dealing with cars. Expect plenty of rolling terrain rather than a completely flat path, with numerous access points along the way and connections into surrounding shared paths and local cycling routes. RTS Tip: Don’t let the cycleway setting fool you — an out-and-back on the M7 can turn into a solid ride with plenty of climbing and very little shade. Carry enough water, especially in summer, and watch your speed around access points, tighter bends and other path users.
