Misty Mountains Wilderness Tracks
About this ride
The Misty Mountains wilderness tracks are a 130 km network of old logging tracks and dirt roads through high-altitude rainforest in the Tully Gorge, Tully Falls and Wooroonooran national parks. Mountain bikes are allowed on the Koolmoon Creek, Cardwell Range and Gorrell tracks. Gorrell runs about 25.7 km one way through the Downey Creek catchment. Cardwell Range is about 19 km one way and is best ridden with a shuttle, and you can ride most of the way to Cannabullen Falls, walking the final 300 m. If you want something easier, the K-Tree, Maple Creek and Sutties Gap dirt roads are good options. This is remote, self-supported riding with creek crossings, leeches, stinging trees and wait-a-while, so carry maps, spares and plenty of water. Check QPWS park alerts first, because tracks close in the wet season and the access roads are unsealed.
