Moama MTB Park
About this ride
Moama MTB Park, also known as the Five Mile Mountain Bike Trail, offers around 7 km of purpose-built mountain bike trails near Moama and Echuca on the NSW–Victoria border. Located within Murray Valley Regional Park beside the Murray River, the trails wind beneath towering river red gums and are designed to cater for a broad range of abilities, making Five Mile a great option for beginners, families and experienced riders looking for a fun cross-country session. The network combines fast, rolling singletrack with berms, rollers, jumps, drops, wall rides and flowing bridge features, packing plenty of variety into its relatively short distance. There’s also a dedicated skills area and pump track, giving newer riders somewhere to practise bike handling while more experienced riders can session features before heading back onto the main trail. The relatively flat Riverina landscape means the riding is more about carrying speed, cornering and enjoying the flow than tackling long climbs. Set around 8 km from Moama along Perricoota Road, Five Mile mountain bike trail is easy to combine with a wider Echuca–Moama cycling trip. After riding, the nearby Five Mile picnic area provides a scenic spot beside the Murray River to relax, picnic or make a longer day of the visit. Parking is available at the MTB trail, although NSW National Parks notes that it can become busy on weekends. RTS Tip: Five Mile is a brilliant spot for riders wanting to build MTB skills without huge climbs. Use the pump track and skills area first, then take those skills onto the rollers, berms and features of the main trail. Summer temperatures in the Murray region can be extreme, so ride early, carry plenty of water and check current Murray Valley Regional Park alerts before travelling. Mobile reception can also be limited within the park, so download any information you need before setting out.
