About this ride

Mount Borah MTB Trails, near Manilla in northern NSW, are all about gravity. Built into the slopes of Mount Borah, the network offers a mix of downhill, enduro and flow trails with one of the biggest elevation drops of any mountain bike riding area in northern NSW. The mountain originally became known among riders for its long, raw downhill trails, but the network has expanded considerably over the years. Today there are high-speed berms, natural and constructed jumps, technical descending and newer flow trails, providing options for different abilities while retaining Mount Borah’s gravity-focused character. The standout is Snake Bite, the mountain’s longest trail at around 3.5km with approximately 450m of vertical descent. It’s a serious run and a great example of just how much elevation Mount Borah has to play with. The network has since grown to include enduro-style trails inspired by modern gravity racing as well as more accessible flow trails. One of the big advantages is the vehicle access up Mount Borah. The access road has several drop-off points, with many of the trails running relatively close and parallel to the road. The local club also operates organised shuttle ride days, which are easily the best way to maximise descending without repeatedly tackling the climb back up. The trails are developed and maintained by the North West Mountain Bike Club, with the riding area growing from a handful of gravity enthusiasts into an established destination capable of hosting major downhill and enduro competition. Mount Borah itself is also famous internationally as a paragliding destination, so the huge views across the Manilla countryside are part of the experience when you reach the top. For riders searching for Mount Borah mountain bike trails, Manilla MTB, downhill mountain biking near Tamworth, gravity MTB in NSW or enduro trails in northern NSW, Mount Borah is definitely one for the ride list. RTS Tip: This is primarily a gravity riding destination, and the easiest way to experience it is during an organised shuttle day. Riders are required to complete a waiver before using the trails, and wet weather can affect both trail and shuttle-road access. Check current club information and trail mapping before travelling, and throw some Trail Karma towards the local crew if you ride — these trails are largely supported by the club and the riders who use them.
