About this ride

Mugga Hill MTB Trails are a compact cross-country mountain bike network just outside Dubbo in Central West NSW, offering around 4.5km of well-signposted singletrack designed primarily for beginner and intermediate riders. Dubbo Regional Council specifically identifies Mugga Hill as one of the region’s established cross-country MTB areas. The riding is classic cross-country singletrack, making the most of the relatively gentle terrain with tight corners, flowing sections, small climbs and descents rather than big elevation. It’s a great option for riders looking for a quick trail session, families introducing younger riders to MTB or anyone wanting to stretch the legs while travelling through Dubbo. The network includes green beginner and blue intermediate riding, along with a shorter kids loop. There’s also a small pump track/jump area within the reserve, adding another option for riders wanting to practise skills between laps. Individual mapped trails include North Side, South Side, West Side and Mugga Connector, which can be combined into a roughly 4.8km loop around the reserve. The main singletrack is designed to be ridden anticlockwise and one-way, helping reduce conflicts between riders. Being only a few kilometres from Dubbo makes Mugga Hill particularly convenient. You can easily squeeze in a few laps as part of a visit to town or combine it with some of the other MTB riding around the region, including Geurie, Dundullimal and the Dubbo Regional Cycling Complex. For riders searching for Mugga Hill MTB, Dubbo mountain bike trails, mountain biking in Central West NSW or beginner MTB trails near Dubbo, this is a handy local network to have on the ride list. RTS Tip: Mugga Hill is relatively short, so think multiple laps rather than one big loop. The trailhead has a map and the trails are well signposted, but there are limited facilities and no water at the trailhead, so bring what you need.
