Murphy's Glen Campground

Nestled within the Blue Mountains National Park, Murphy's Glen is a scenic gravel ride that takes riders through towering forests of Blue Gum and Turpentine trees. Starting from Woodford Railway Station, this out and back route follows a management trail into the secluded forested valley, making it ideal for gravel bikes, mountain bikes and families looking for a shorter adventure. The ride begins with a gentle ride along Bedford Road. Not long after the sealed road ends, riders will reach Linda Rock, a popular lookout offering sweeping views across the surrounding bushland towards Wentworth Falls. From here, Bedford Road becomes Murphy's Road, a wide gravel trail that winds through native bush as it descends towards Murphy's Glen. At the end of the road lies Murphy's Glen Campground, a tranquil picnic and camping area surrounded by a magnificent stand of towering Blue Gums and Turpentine trees. The cool, sheltered forest creates a striking contrast to the exposed ridgelines above and is an ideal place to relax before the return journey. For those seeking a little extra adventure, a hidden short walk off Murphy's road is the second tallest known tree in New South Wales, a forest giant hidden within a few minutes from the main road. While the ride to the campground is mostly downhill or gently descending, riders should save some energy for the return trip. The climb back towards Woodford includes a steep gravel ascent that can test the legs. For a longer adventure, Murphy's Glen can also be used as a gateway to the extensive Blue Mountains trail network, with connections through the Ingar Road and Andersons Fire Trail towards Wentworth Falls. Route Description Start at Woodford Railway Station. Follow Bedford Road south from the station. Continue past Linda Rock Lookout, where the sealed road transitions to gravel. Follow Murphy's Road as it descends through the forest. Continue to Murphy's Glen Campground at the end of the road.
