About this ride

The Nepean River Trail is a powerline maintenance route running along the foot of the Blue Mountains between Emu Plains and Yellomundee Mountain Bike Park. It’s a direct and practical option if you’re arriving by public transport or want to add some extra kilometres before hitting the Yellomundee trail network. Although the trail traces the edge of the Nepean River, it’s far from flat. The route follows the escarpment, rolling across ridgelines and dipping into valleys that meet the river. Expect a steady mix of short, punchy climbs that keep you honest all the way to Yellomundee. From the gate on Riverbank Drive to the gate on Springwood Road is roughly 7 km. Make sure you leave enough in the tank to explore the 10 km of cross‑country and enduro trails waiting at Yellomundee (See tagged ride card). The surface is typical of a firetrail, hardpack, loose gravel, and occasional erosion and is suited to both gravel and mountain bikes. There is no water along the route or the Yellomundee end. Snakes are frequently seen along this trail in the warmer months
