New Italy MTB Forest
About this ride
New Italy MTB Forest – Tabbimoble New Italy Mountain Bike Forest is a purpose-built cross-country MTB network in Doubleduke State Forest at Tabbimoble, around 9km south of Woodburn on the NSW Northern Rivers. The network packs in around 30km of purpose-built singletrack, winding through beautiful sclerophyll forest and catering for a range of abilities. This is predominantly cross-country riding, but there’s plenty of variety in the terrain, with natural features, technical obstacles, bridges, drop-offs and steeper sections adding challenge as you progress through the network. Trails include memorable names such as Burntwood Frenzy, Yabba Dabba Do, Knobby Mayhem, Crumplstiltskin, Snakes N Ladders and Pocket Rocket. Several of these have also been identified as suitable for some types of adaptive cycles, helping make New Italy a more inclusive riding destination. The trails are built and maintained by volunteers from Northern Rivers Dirty Wheels Mountain Bike Club, which manages the network under an occupation permit from Forestry Corporation NSW. The club also manages Duck Creek Mountain Bike Park at Alstonville, making the Northern Rivers a great area to spend a few days exploring by bike. Navigation is straightforward, with all trails signposted and a trail map at the car park. Current mapping is also available through Trailforks. Some trails are one-way while others are multi-directional, so keep an eye on the trail bollards as you explore. For riders searching for New Italy MTB Forest, mountain biking near Woodburn, Northern Rivers mountain bike trails, MTB near Evans Head or cross-country mountain biking in northern NSW, this is a fantastic volunteer-built network to put on the ride list. RTS Tip: There are no toilets or drinking water at the trailhead, so arrive prepared. The forest can also be closed during excessively wet conditions to protect the trails, so check the current Northern Rivers Dirty Wheels trail status before making the trip and stay off the network whenever it is shown as closed
