SEVEN Gravel Route – Nannup The SEVEN Gravel Route is one of Western Australia's ultimate gravel cycling challenges — a huge 125km ride with approximately 3,200 metres of climbing through the spectacular forests, farmland and backroads surrounding Nannup. Starting and finishing in Nannup, the route ventures into the incredible gravel network of WA's South West, an area containing more than 1,000km of rideable roads and trails between Nannup, Bridgetown and Donnybrook. Don't let the distance alone define this ride. SEVEN is famous for its climbing, with major ascents ranging from around 1.2km to 4.5km and gradients regularly pushing towards 20%. Combined with constantly rolling terrain, gravel surfaces and fast descents, this is a seriously demanding day on the bike. The reward is some brilliant gravel riding. Expect quiet forest roads, towering trees, farmland, valleys and the beautiful Blackwood River region as the route repeatedly climbs and descends through the hills surrounding Nannup and Balingup. Originally developed for the SEVEN Gravel Race, the route has helped put Nannup firmly on the international gravel cycling map. But you don't need to be chasing a race result to appreciate the riding — for experienced gravel cyclists looking for a big Western Australian challenge, the roads and climbs that make up SEVEN provide an incredible adventure. Nannup itself makes a brilliant base for the ride, with an enormous network of additional gravel roads and cycling routes nearby. Stay a few days and there's plenty more to explore once the legs have recovered. RTS Tip: This is a seriously challenging gravel ride, with 125km, around 3,200m of elevation and some very steep gradients. Come prepared with plenty of food, water, repair equipment and navigation, and check current road, forestry, weather and fire conditions before setting out. The official SEVEN course can also change between editions and may include roads or land with access conditions, so always confirm the current route and access before attempting to recreate the full course.
