About this ride

Located just north of Margaret River town centre, The Pines Mountain Bike Network packs more than 16 km of purpose-built mountain bike trails into Wooditjup National Park. With 21 individual trails ranging from Easy (Green) through to Difficult (Black), it’s a compact network with plenty of variety for riders looking to squeeze in some fun laps while exploring the Margaret River region. The network is particularly popular with intermediate riders, with a mix of climbing trails, cross-country singletrack, downhill runs, flow trails and jump lines. Beginners aren't left out either, with approachable green trails such as Once Upon a Climb and Happily Ever After, while more experienced riders can step things up onto technical and jump-focused trails, including black-rated options. The main trailhead is at the Carters Road car park in Wooditjup National Park, only around a five-minute drive from the centre of Margaret River. Parking, visitor information and a picnic area are available at the trailhead, but there is no drinking water, so make sure you arrive prepared. Margaret River itself provides easy access to cafés, toilets, accommodation and other services before or after your ride. The Pines also sits close to the larger Wooditjup Mountain Bike Network, formerly known as Compartment 10, making it easy to combine the networks and build a bigger day on the bike. Trails: 21 Distance: 16+ km of trails Difficulty: Green / Easy to Black / Difficult Style: XC, Flow, Jump, Downhill & All-Mountain Best for: Intermediate MTB riders, with options for beginners and experienced riders Location: Margaret River, South West WA Current trail note: Trails WA advises that Loosey Goosey and Black Pearl are closed, with Gulliver’s Travels partially closed as required, for maintenance works that commenced 20 July 2026. Riders should check current conditions before heading out and follow all closure signage.
