Thredbo MTB Park
About this ride
Thredbo Mountain Bike Park – Snowy Mountains Thredbo is one of Australia’s premier mountain biking destinations, transforming the alpine resort into a huge lift-accessed MTB park during summer. Set within Kosciuszko National Park in the NSW Snowy Mountains, the park offers more than 40km of gravity trails, over 600m of vertical elevation, four MTB lifts, cross-country trails, skills areas, jump lines and pump tracks. The big attraction is the ability to load your bike onto the lift and head straight back up the mountain, allowing riders to clock up serious descending without having to pedal every metre of elevation. Thredbo describes itself as Australia’s only lift-accessed MTB park, with trails running from beginner flow right through to advanced technical downhill terrain. There’s a strong focus on progression. Newer gravity riders can start on trails such as Easy Rider and Sidewinder, with Sidewinder delivering 3.2km of smooth berms, rollers and flowing descending. Intermediate riders can progress into trails such as Grasshopper, Dream Catcher and the Kosciuszko Flow Trail, while experienced riders have technical and downhill terrain including the famous Cannonball Downhill. Thredbo isn't only about gravity. There’s also a linked cross-country network around the village, including Pipeline Path, Friday Flat Loop, Village Loop and Golf Course Loop. Riders can also connect directly onto the Thredbo Valley Track, which continues down the valley towards Lake Crackenback and, for advanced riders tackling the complete route, all the way towards Jindabyne. Skills development is another big part of the park. Thredbo has beginner and intermediate skills parks, two pump tracks and the Boost Mobile Jumps Park, along with an MTB School offering clinics for riders wanting to improve their gravity skills. The alpine setting makes the riding particularly memorable. Trails descend from high on the mountain through open alpine terrain, snow-gum forest and rocky technical sections before finishing back around Thredbo Village, giving riders a style of riding that's difficult to replicate elsewhere in Australia. For riders searching for Thredbo MTB, Snowy Mountains mountain biking, lift-accessed MTB in Australia, downhill mountain biking NSW or alpine MTB trails, this is absolutely a destination to build a riding trip around. RTS Tip: Thredbo is a seasonal MTB destination and the park is currently closed following the 2025/26 summer season. Lift-accessed riding requires an MTB lift pass, although several of the village XC trails can be ridden without one. When planning for the next summer season, check the current trail map and resort status before travelling — alpine weather and maintenance can affect individual lifts and trails.
