Wambenger Trails - Wagyl Biddi

Wagyl Biddi, right on the edge of Collie in Western Australia’s South West, is the most accessible and family-friendly part of the wider Wambenger Trails network. Around 6 km of purpose-built MTB trails across 12 trails wind through jarrah forest beside the Collie River, with a mix of green, blue and black riding plus the dedicated Dropped Pye skills zone. Its close-to-town location makes it ideal for beginners, families and riders wanting a quick session without heading deep into the surrounding forests. The network is particularly good for skills progression. Wilman Trail is an easy 830 m flowing ride beside the river, while Sprockets Rocket provides around 730 m of beginner-friendly XC singletrack. Sprockets Rocket can also be combined with nearby trails and the shared path to create an easy introductory loop. Intermediate riders can step up to trails including Missing Link, Drop Dead Fred and Townie. Missing Link introduces small jumps and rockier terrain, while the 1 km Drop Dead Fred mixes enduro-style riding with jumps and technical features. Short but playful Townie packs knuckle jumps, berms, rollable gaps and tabletops into just 200 m, with an optional black-rated wall ride for more confident riders. The Dropped Pye Zone is one of Wagyl Biddi’s standout features. Its Playground contains balance beams of varying difficulty alongside jumps, rock descents, ladder drops and berms, allowing riders to practise individual features before taking those skills onto the trails. Experienced riders can tackle Tertiary Trials, a short black-rated downhill line featuring gap jumps and tight technical manoeuvres. Access is easy from Soldiers Park, with riders following the dual-use Collie River Trail for approximately 1.4 km to the Wagyl Biddi trailhead. Soldiers Park provides parking, toilets, drinking water, picnic areas, barbecues and a playground, although there are no facilities once you're inside the MTB network itself. Entry to Wagyl Biddi is free and the trails are open seven days a week. The name has a strong connection to the area: Wagyl refers to the serpent from Noongar creation stories associated with the formation of rivers, lakes and waterways, while Biddi means path through the forest. The trails sit within the much larger Wambenger system around Collie, so riders can easily progress from this introductory network to Arklow, Kylie and Wellington National Park for considerably bigger adventures. RTS Tip: Wagyl Biddi is a great first stop when riding Collie, especially with kids or newer mountain bikers. Start with Wilman Trail and Sprockets Rocket, spend some time practising in the Dropped Pye skills area, then progress onto Missing Link, Drop Dead Fred or Townie. Stronger riders shouldn't skip it either — the optional features and short black-rated Tertiary Trials provide plenty of fun before heading out to the bigger Wambenger networks.
