Yaberoo Budjara Heritage Trail
About this ride
Yaberoo Budjara Heritage Trail is a 28 km walking, trail-running and mountain-biking route from Neil Hawkins Park on Lake Joondalup through Yellagonga Regional Park and Neerabup National Park to Yanchep National Park. City of Wanneroo and a Western Australian Government media statement describe the trail as based on Yellagonga’s people’s movement track linking the coastal-plain lakes, later used as a European stock route. The name is translated as the land (Budjara) of the people of north of Perth (Yaberoo). This trail is in Western Australia (Joondalup / Wanneroo), not NSW. OpenStreetMap maps named “Yaberoo Budjara Heritage Trail” path ways; the pin is Neil Hawkins Park, the official southern start. Trailforks lists a green, family-friendly section near Yanchep. A government upgrade statement described resurfacing unsealed sections with limestone for walkers and bicycle riders. Dogs are allowed on lead except in Yanchep National Park (fees apply at that end). The live hub already has Yalbunullup MTB Trails at Yellagonga / Lake Joondalup — this card is the longer heritage trail, not that 7 km MTB park.
