Boonoo Boonoo Circuit
About this ride
The Boonoo Boonoo ride is a beautiful gravel adventure north of Tenterfield, taking riders into the granite country and forests surrounding Boonoo Boonoo National Park. This is the kind of ride where the destination is every bit as good as the journey. Quiet country roads and gravel lead riders away from Tenterfield and towards the national park, where the Boonoo Boonoo River winds through granite landscapes, secluded swimming holes and peaceful bushland. The highlight is Boonoo Boonoo Falls, where the river dramatically drops around 210 metres into the gorge below. It’s well worth allowing some extra time off the bike to walk out to the lookout, take in the views and explore the rockpools and picnic areas around the falls. The region is ideal for riders who enjoy combining gravel riding with a bit of exploring along the way. Boonoo Boonoo National Park also has camping and picnic areas, making it a great destination to include in a longer riding weekend around Tenterfield. While much of the riding is on country and gravel roads rather than technical trails, riders should still come prepared for changing surfaces, climbing and stretches away from services. RTS Tip: Don't just turn around when you reach the park — make time to check out Boonoo Boonoo Falls and the lookout while you're there. Conditions on the unsealed roads can change after heavy rain, so check current park alerts and weather before setting out. Follow the mapping link for the detailed Ride with GPS route and navigation.
