Collie Historic Velodrome (not rideable)

Collie Velodrome is a historic outdoor cycling track in Collie, Western Australia, with a proud connection to the town’s long cycling history. Opened in 1955, the velodrome became an important home for local track racing during an era when Collie was known as “Cycling Central”, producing a number of state and national champion riders. The track continued to be used by Collie Cycle Club over subsequent decades and remains an interesting piece of WA cycling heritage. Today, however, the velodrome is not suitable for track cycling. The ageing track has fallen into significant disrepair and requires substantial reconstruction before it could again be used for regular riding, training or racing. The Shire of Collie has previously identified redevelopment of the site as a potential future cycling project. RTS Tip: This is currently a cycling heritage stop rather than a rideable velodrome. Don’t plan a trip expecting to ride the track in its present condition. If you’re exploring Collie by bike, there are plenty of active alternatives nearby, including the town’s extensive Wambenger mountain bike network and surrounding rail and cycle trails.
