Cooks to Cove Greenway

Cooks to Cove GreenWay – Sydney Inner West - is a fantastic family-friendly cycling route through Sydney's Inner West, connecting the Cooks River at Earlwood with Iron Cove and the popular Bay Run. Stretching for approximately 6km, the GreenWay provides a predominantly traffic-free, fully paved cycling and walking corridor through Dulwich Hill, Summer Hill, Lewisham, Haberfield and Lilyfield, following sections of the Inner West Light Rail and historic former goods railway corridor. Officially completed and opened in December 2025, the GreenWay has transformed this inner-city corridor into a brilliant cycling connection filled with greenery, parks, public art, railway heritage and plenty of places to stop along the way. The smooth sealed surface makes it an easy option for families, recreational cyclists, commuters, e-bikes and riders of varying abilities. Along the route you'll pass several short tunnels, landscaped reserves, historic railway infrastructure, playgrounds, cafés and eight dedicated public artworks. One of the best things about the Cooks to Cove GreenWay is what it connects. At the southern end, riders can join the Cooks River Cycleway, opening up longer rides towards Botany Bay or west through Sydney. At the northern end, the trail meets Iron Cove and the Bay Run, making it easy to add another waterfront loop or continue exploring Sydney's wider cycling network. Public transport access is excellent too, with multiple Inner West Light Rail stops located directly alongside the GreenWay and train connections nearby, making this an easy ride to reach without a car. RTS Tip: Don't feel like you need to stop after the 6km GreenWay. Link it with the Bay Run or Cooks River Cycleway to create a much longer Sydney cycling adventure. There are a couple of short on-road connections along the route, so follow the GreenWay signage and current mapping, and remember that the main path is shared with walkers, runners and other users.
