Wannang Biddi/Darch Trail

The Darch Trail, now officially known as Wannang Biddi, is a short 3.6km walk and cycle trail on the eastern edge of Margaret River in Western Australia. The trail follows the alignment of a former timber tramway, running south from the Bunnitj Biddi (Ten Mile Brook Trail), crossing the Margaret River via a footbridge and continuing to Andrews Retreat. With compacted earth and gravel underwheel, gentle gradients and peaceful bushland surrounds, it’s an easy ride suitable for mountain bikes, gravel bikes and hybrids. The trail is particularly useful as part of Margaret River’s wider cycling network, linking with Bunnitj Biddi and providing connections towards the Wadandi Track and nearby MTB trails. Birdlife and seasonal wildflowers add to the ride, and its proximity to town makes it easy to incorporate into a longer loop rather than riding it purely as an out-and-back. RTS Tip: For a bigger ride, combine Wannang Biddi with Bunnitj Biddi or link it into the Wadandi Track and surrounding Margaret River trails. The surface can become poorly drained and wet during winter, so expect softer or muddy sections after rain. Stick to the official shared trail — there are unsanctioned bike trails and jumps within the nearby Darch Road Reserve that the Shire advises riders not to use.
