Devonport Oval Velodrome

The Devonport Oval Velodrome brings track cycling right into the heart of Devonport, with a dedicated outdoor cycling track circling the perimeter of the historic Devonport Oval. Home to Mersey Valley Devonport Cycling Club, the track has a long association with Tasmania’s cycling scene and regularly features in the famous Tasmanian Christmas Carnivals, where cycling, athletics and woodchopping come together in a uniquely Tasmanian sporting tradition. The venue is shared with football, cricket and athletics, and the cycling track has recently been resurfaced as part of the major Devonport Sports Precinct redevelopment, giving this classic North-West Coast cycling venue a new lease on life. RTS Tip: This is an active sporting venue rather than a dedicated public ride-anytime velodrome, so check for club training, racing and other oval activities before planning a session. If you want to see the track at its best, keep an eye out for Mersey Valley Devonport Cycling Club events and the annual Christmas Carnival program — track racing under the lights is a Devonport tradition.
