Edwardstown Velodrome
About this ride
Edwardstown Velodrome, at the Edwardstown Soldiers’ Memorial Recreation Ground in South Plympton, is a classic 400m outdoor cycling track and an important part of Adelaide’s track cycling scene. The wide concrete track circles Edwardstown Oval and is home to South Coast Cycling, which runs junior and senior training, track racing and carnivals at the venue. Friday-night racing during the summer season caters for a range of ages and abilities, with everything from scratch races and handicaps to junior participation events, making Edwardstown a much more community-focused alternative to Adelaide’s indoor Super-Drome. RTS Tip: If you want to experience proper track riding here, check South Coast Cycling’s schedule before heading down. Organised training and racing require riders to follow the club’s track rules, and racing requires an appropriate AusCycling licence. Newer riders can work their way into the discipline through coached sessions, with club loan track bikes also available for some training sessions.
