About this ride
Forsyths Mill, near Sawyers Valley in the Perth Hills, is a compact 6km cross-country MTB loop that squeezes plenty of fun into a relatively short ride. Rated moderate, the singletrack is packed with fast corners, tight turns, log rollovers, bomb holes and jumps, with very little major climbing — making it a great place for mixed-ability groups or repeated laps. There’s also a short beginner loop near the car park, while more experienced riders will find harder optional obstacles towards the end of the main circuit. It’s an old-school Perth Hills ride where the challenge comes from the constant features rather than big elevation. RTS Tip: Forsyths Mill rides best in the cooler months, when a little moisture helps hold the trail together. During summer the famous WA pea gravel can become loose and slippery, so take care through faster corners. Bring your own drinking water and snacks; there are toilets, picnic facilities and parking at the trailhead, with the closest shops at Chidlow. If 6km isn’t enough, Lake Leschenaultia MTB Trails are nearby and make an easy addition for a bigger day of riding.
