Fred Caterson Reserve BMX Track – Castle Hill Fred Caterson Reserve in Castle Hill is home to Castle Hill BMX Club, one of Sydney’s established BMX racing facilities and a major hub for BMX in the Hills District. The purpose-built 312-metre BMX track features a 3.5-metre start hill and four straights, with jumps, rollers and banked turns providing plenty of opportunity to develop speed, jumping, bike handling and race skills. The facility also includes lighting for night riding, a sheltered start gate and a nearby asphalt warm-up area. The track is used by Castle Hill BMX Club for regular BMX racing, coaching and gate practice, catering for riders from beginners and juniors through to experienced racers. It has also hosted competition up to NSW State BMX Championship level, making it one of the more significant community BMX facilities in Sydney. Importantly, the BMX track is also open for public riding outside closures and organised club activities, so riders don’t necessarily need to be racing to enjoy the facility. Recent club updates continue to reference public riding around scheduled closures. The wider 58-hectare Fred Caterson Reserve also includes an extensive cycleway, walking tracks, playground, toilets, picnic facilities and numerous sporting fields, making it easy to combine some BMX laps with a bigger family visit.
