About this ride
Gap Creek, tucked into Mt Coot-tha Forest just west of Brisbane’s CBD, is one of the city’s most popular mountain biking spots, with a dense network of dedicated MTB and multi-use trails catering for beginners through to experienced technical riders. The 2.3km Gap Creek Circuit is a great warm-up, while trails including Rocket Frog, Bellbird, Cockatoo, Cubberla Creek and Whipbird Way add flowing singletrack, rocks, roots and technical features. Newer riders can build confidence on the 450m Skink Link, while experienced riders can tackle Pipeline, the most difficult official trail in the park, featuring large drops, log rollovers and a 180-degree timber wall-ride. RTS Tip: Start from Gap Creek Reserve picnic area, where you’ll find parking, toilets, water and shaded areas right beside the trails. If it’s your first visit, warm up on Gap Creek Circuit or Skink Link before exploring the harder lines — and definitely inspect Pipeline’s technical features before committing. Stick to authorised MTB and multi-use trails and remember to give way appropriately when using shared tracks.
