About this ride

The Garden MTB Trail is a purpose-built mountain bike network inside the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan in Sydney’s south-west, offering a great mix of beginner-friendly riding and more challenging singletrack in a genuinely unique setting. Camden Council describes it as the Macarthur region’s first designated mountain bike trail and the only MTB trail in the world set within a botanic garden. The network has several loops designed for different abilities. The 1km Kids Loop is a great introduction for younger riders, while the 3.9km Family Loop offers generally smooth riding with a few obstacles and challenges along the way. Riders ready for more can tackle the 2.5km Intermediate Loop. The 3.9km Advanced Loop steps things up with around 70 metres of elevation, jumps, berms, rock gardens and rock drops. While officially rated intermediate with difficult sections, many of the bigger features have alternative B-lines, allowing riders to build confidence and progress their skills. The trails wind through the bushland of the Australian Botanic Garden, giving riders a very different experience from a typical Sydney MTB park. The wider garden covers 416 hectares of rolling hills, native woodland and gardens, so there are plenty of options for families or non-riders to explore while you hit the trails. For anyone searching for Mount Annan mountain bike trails, MTB riding in South West Sydney, beginner mountain bike trails in Sydney or family-friendly MTB trails near Campbelltown, the Garden MTB Trail is an easy one to put on the list. RTS Tip: This is a particularly good network for families and progressing riders, as you can start on the Kids or Family Loop and work your way towards the more technical trails. Trail status can change, particularly following wet weather, so check the current status before travelling and stay off closed trails to help protect the network.
